Who is managing the coworking space?

Coworking Station LLC will be the manager/operator of the coworking space in downtown Apex. Coworking Station LLC was selected as the manager/operator through a proposal process with the Town of Apex.

What is coworking?

Coworking is an innovative concept where entrepreneurs, start-ups and freelancers can access a flexible and open collaborative community setting. The “shared space” concept allows coworking members to collaborate with one another as well as pay reduced rent for sharing office space. Coworking gives up-and-coming designers, programmers and innovators a space where they can engage with other like-minded individuals to develop comprehensive business ideas and plans.

When will the coworking space open in downtown Apex?

Upfit of the coworking space is underway and is expected to be complete mid-2018. Coworking Station LLC, as well as the Town of Apex, will provide updates and information about opening dates when possible.

Where is the coworking space?

Coworking Station Apex will be located at 121 N. Salem Street on the 2nd floor above Wake Remodeling and Carolina Custom Kitchens and Bath.

Why did the Town of Apex decide to bring coworking to Apex?

In 2015, the Economic Development Committee commissioned a study to identify significant existing industry sectors in Apex. The study indicated that information technology (IT) had extreme potential to become a strong industry sector in Apex. So, Apex Economic Development began to look for ways to grow the IT sector in our area. The concept of coworking has seen favorable outcomes and successes in bolstering IT professionals from start-ups to successful enterprises. After visiting many of the coworking spaces in the Triangle, the Town of Apex decided to further investigate the possibility of bringing coworking to Apex. In the spring of 2017, the Economic Development Committee recommended to Town Council a management partnership with Coworking Station LLC to bring coworking to the amenity-rich and walkable downtown Apex.

Why did the Town of Apex invest in coworking?

Apex Economic Development is committed to bringing more jobs and investment to Apex. By investing in the future of IT professionals and start-ups through the coworking space, Apex Economic Development hopes to nurture the growth of existing entrepreneurs and start-ups to have a greater impact on our local economy. In addition, it is hoped that companies who start out in the coworking space will grow and seek a larger, permanent home within the town of Apex.
