Message from the Chief
Law enforcement exists to serve the public by being an integral part of the community and by forging relationships to enhance its ability to solve problems and achieve a common goal - that of public safety. No community can function effectively without law enforcement and no law enforcement agency can function effectively without the community it serves. To that end, the Apex Police Department is composed of dedicated, professional men and women who are committed to serving the needs of the community.
We seek to work together as we address the myriad of issues and concerns that face society with the goal of making a positive difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors. We work together with other agencies, with other aspects of local and regional government and with you, our constituent groups, to solve problems by using a cross-functional approach. Please partner with us as we all have a role in achieving the goal of public safety for our community.
Please check out the Police Department page and meet the people who make up the APD. Look at the services we provide and consider ways you can join our efforts and help keep your neighborhood, business, or school safe. Learn more about protecting yourself and some of our many outreach activities by reviewing the Community Outreach and Events page and contact us if you would like a presentation at your school, neighborhood, or community meeting. Learn more about safety topics by visiting the Police Safety Tips page.
Consider applying to be a volunteer with Citizens Assisting the Police in Apex (CAPA) or to attend the Citizens Police Academy. Review the Crime Statistics page to see the trends and learn how to contact us about a crime by viewing the How to Report a Crime page. Be observant of suspicious circumstances and call us; sign up for the Ready Wake Emergency Notification System so we can notify you of general emergencies. Get involved and encourage others to do the same. Simply, get to know us and let us get to know you.
The mission of this agency is carried out in the service we provide - day by day; call by call. Our efforts are geared toward just that, providing professional police services to the community in each interaction we have. So please let us know your needs, concerns, and ideas. If you have a question, you may be able to find the answer on our website on the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) page.
If you need a police officer in an emergency, call 911. For non-emergency needs, contact the Apex Police Communications Center at (919) 362-8661. For administrative issues, call our Administrative Offices at (919) 249-3447.
Our website contains a great deal of information about the Apex Police Department and I hope you will visit it often. You can also follow us on Twitter (Department or Chief), find us on Facebook, watch APD videos on our YouTube Channel and view photos on our Instagram page..
There are many ways to interact with the Apex Police Department and I hope you find this information helpful; but the most important way is to develop a relationship with the department and our staff. I hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities to do so.
