Water and Sewer Operations

The Water and Sewer Operations Division of Water Resources is responsible for the installation and inspection of new services and maintenance of existing water and wastewater collection systems. The following services are performed by the Water & Sewer Operations Division:


Water Quality

  • Bacteriological testing
  • Water quality testing
  • Hydrant and valve inspections and maintenance
  • Water meter testing
  • Hydrant meter rental and installation

Utility Maintenance

  • Water meter installation and repair
  • Split tap installation (existing water account customers only)
  • Water and sewer line maintenance and repair
  • Water consumption investigation

Collections (Sanitary Sewer)

  • Water and sewer final inspection for certificate of occupancy approval
  • 3rd party CCTV & CCTV inspection of new and existing sewer lines and services
  • Sewer service backup/blockage 
  • Easement maintenance

Pump Station Maintenance

  • Pump station inspection and maintenance

The Town of Apex Water Reclamation Division is dedicated to protecting public health and the environment by providing high quality wastewater treatment in an economically and ethically responsible manner to maintain the quality of life in Apex while exceeding all federal and state regulations.

Providing high-quality drinking water and wastewater services to our customers while protecting the environment and enforcing sustainable development.

Collections

The Town of Apex maintains 258 miles of gravity sewer line and 39 miles of force main. The Collections section of the Water & Sewer Operations Division performs the following functions and services:

  • Water and sewer final inspection for certificate of occupancy approval
  • CCTV inspection of new and existing gravity sewer lines and services
  • Sewer service backup/blockage
  • Sewer cleanout cap repair/replacement
  • Manhole concerns
  • General maintenance of gravity sewer system
  • Flush at least 10% of the total sewer collection system each year as required by the State of North Carolina
  • Rehabilitation projects upgrading existing sewer mains and services


Pump Station Maintenance

The Pump Station Maintenance section of the Water & Sewer Operations Division performs the following functions and services:

  • Inspect, maintain, and monitor 32 pump stations
  • Easement maintenance
