Tingen Road Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge/Tunnel Crossing (BO-2416)

For more information on this project, visit the project website at www.apexnc.org/tingen

The Tingen Road crossing of the CSX S-line railroad tracks is required to be permanently closed under the Town's Corridor Master Agreement with CSX and NCDOT once the Apex Peakway Southwest Connector Bridge is open to traffic in 2027.  In order to plan for the possibility of future bicycle and pedestrian connectivity across the railroad tracks in this location, the project will first conduct a feasibility study to evaluate bridge design options as well as options for going under the railroad and then select a preferred alternative. The feasibility study will inform the Town to make a decision on whether or not to move forward with final design plans and pursue construction funding.

  • Project Status (02/02/26): The Functional Design Public Meeting for the Recommended Alternative was held from 4-6 p.m. on November 17, 2025 at the Apex Senior Center, Salem Room.  The draft feasibility study report is in review by Town staff.  Public hearings are anticipated to be scheduled in March for Planning Board and Town Council.
  • Lead Agency: Town of Apex, Russell Dalton, (919) 249-3358
