This is a Community Event organized by the Apex Chamber of Commerce. What does this mean?

Run the Peak offers 5K and 10K races, with routes taking participants through many historic Apex areas.

This year's event features:

  • Live music
  • Kid's fun run, and 5k and 10k races
  • Local business vendors located in the Town Hall parking lot

Know Before You Go

  • Parking is available at Apex Town Hall Campus
  • There will be many rolling road closures for this event as participants travel along the race route. 
    Road and sidewalk closures include sections of Old Raleigh Rd, Shepherd Vineyard Greenway, Apex Peakway at Laura Duncan Rd, Mason St, Center St, Culvert St, Olive St, Elm St, Briarcliff St, and E. Chatham St. 
  • GoApex Route1 will operate on a major detour to avoid the race route. Click here for more information on the detour.
  • Town staff may be on site during the event taking photos and video




What is the difference between a Community Event and a Town-Organized Event?


Community Events 
This is an event that a non-profit organization runs, pays for, and plans. Town of Apex staff provides an event location (Town Hall Campus, Salem Street, etc.), along with staff from public safety, public works and other departments, as necessary.

Town-Organized Events
This is an event that the Town of Apex creates, pays for, and plans. Town of Apex staff manages the programming, including activities, logistics, and vendors. This is sometimes referred to as a “Town Owned Event”.
